Following its successful
launch of two Business Incubator units, Southampton Science Park is
expanding again. Work on their latest building at Lime Tree Walk is
likely to begin this summer.
The Science Park's
Business Incubator units were designed to support small companies
during their initial years of growth. They have had very high
occupancy and many of the companies are ready to expand into larger
premises.
Don Fox, Chief Executive
of the Science Park said: 'Whilst
the Science Park already has several larger offices, most have
long-term occupants so additional accommodation is much needed. To
meet this demand, we are developing Lime Tree Walk as 'move-on'
accommodation for expanding companies'.
The Science Park hopes
to start building as soon as final planning approval has been
granted. The new building will provide 32,000 ft2 of flexible
accommodation. It will be subdivided into units of 500 ft2, 1000
ft2, 1500 ft2, and 6000ft2 but the internal layout is designed so
that units of other sizes can be created.
