The last year has seen unprecedented success
at Southampton Science Park. With fourteen new tenants, several new
buildings in the pipeline and record profits, the Science Park is going from
strength to strength.
New On-Site Services Approved
Southampton Science Park's latest success has been a new agreement with
Test Valley Borough Council, which permits a wider range of activities on
the park. It will now be possible to dedicate 10% of floor area to support
activities and the Science Park already has plans to create a leisure club
and creche. In addition, it is expected that a wide range of professionals,
such as lawyers, accountants, tax experts, company finance specialists and
design companies will now choose to be located at the Science Park in order
to supply services to tenants.
Dr Don Fox, the science park's chief
executive said 'This is a very important milestone in the development of the
science park. We've grown from nothing to 310,000ft2 of space in 20 years
and it's important to adapt to this increased size. There are 46 companies
and 750 employees here and this creates a significant need for on-site
services in order to eliminate avoidable journeys away from the park.'
Record Demand Leads to New Development
During the past year there has been unprecedented demand for space at
Southampton Science Park. Chief Executive, Dr Don Fox said 'Southampton
Science Park is booming. This gives us confidence to create more space and
we have a new building of 30,000ft2 under construction. This new development
is being carried out because of the level of interest, both from new
companies wanting to take space at Southampton Science Park for the first
time and also from existing tenants who want to expand in this exceptional
environment. It is very satisfying to see that our customers like the
combination of modern buildings in a tranquil and accessible setting.'
The new building at Lime Tree Walk will be
ready for occupation in August 2006. For further information, please contact
