Fibercore
Limited has won its second Queen's Award for Enterprise for its
pioneering work in optical fibres for fibreoptic gyroscopes (FOGs).
Their fibres are used in applications as diverse
as commercial and military aircraft, off-shore oil platforms,
sub-marine vehicles, smart munitions, and part of the advanced
satellite navigation systems found in some luxury automobiles.
Fibercore Limited's Managing Director, Dr. Chris
Emslie, says the Queen's Award for Innovation is further
recognition of the company's continuous drive for excellence. "Innovation
is part of the very fabric of our company and is the foundation on
which our success in the FOG market, and the Queen's Award, is
based."
