Dr Garik Markarian, CEO of Rinicom has
recently been appointed to a Chair at the University of Leeds. He joins
their 5* rated Communication Systems Department - internationally renowned
as a centre of excellence.
"I am honoured to have been appointed
to this position," said Dr Markarian. "I'll have the normal
duties of a professor but will also be driving the department to new areas
in wireless broadband communications, building more spin off companies and
increasing commercialisation of products."
Southampton Science Park-based Rinicom, a
company founded by Dr Markarian, specialises in wireless access systems.
Following its excellent first year of trading, Rinicom has been increasing
its international customer base in countries as diverse as Canada and
Kenya. Around 10 countries are currently trialling Rinicom's wireless
surveillance product and will soon be ready to place orders.
As part of this expansion, the company has
appointed 2 more key employees: Amjad Zaroung is Rinicom's new Product
Manager and Dr Sean Sonander, who has an MBA from Cranfield University,
joins as Business Development Manager.
Dr Markarian added, "The Communication
Systems Department at Leeds has recently become part of the Worldwide
Universities Network - an organisation that encourages collaboration
between researchers in highly specialised fields. This enables research of
a scope beyond that of an individual institution. I look forward to
forging a co-operative relationship between Rinicom and the University of
Leeds." |
