Science Park supports the process of business
incubation through access to accommodation and
services tailored to the needs of start-up or early
stage businesses. Small companies can benefit from
flexible leasing arrangements (including
"easy-in/easy-out” facilities) and access to shared
facilities (for example meeting rooms and
photocopiers).
Meeting Rooms
Southampton
Science Park has a variety of meeting rooms to suit
all business purposes: From a small meeting room for
two people to a theatre style room for 50. Meeting
rooms are supplied with several
power points, a telephone extension point plus
flipchart and pens. Internet access, conference phone, overhead or
LCD projector and video conferencing facilities are
all available at an additional cost.

Virtual
Tenancy
Virtual
Tenancy allows companies to enjoy many of the
benefits of residency at Southampton Science Park
without the commitment of taking on a lease. For a
small fee, companies can use the Science Park
address and have access to a range of other
services.

Chilworth Manor
Hotel and Leisure Centre
Chilworth Manor is an on site luxury hotel and
conference centre, based in a large Edwardian house.
It is the perfect venue for entertaining important
visitors and is an excellent venue for conferences and
training events, offering the highest standards of
service and residential accommodation for visitors.
Chilworth Manor's new
Leisure Centre
opened in September 07. The club boasts the latest high-tech
Nautilus Nitro Plus gym equipment as well as a 16m x
8m heated swimming pool, spa bath, poolside sauna
and steam room, spinning studio and four beauty
treatment rooms.

Development of the Science
Park
2006 Kenneth Dibben House was completed providing
high quality office and lab space in units of 540 to 5,000
ft2
for new and move-on tenants.
2004
A 9-acre site was purchased bringing the total park area to
44-acres. This land has planning permission for 5 buildings
and will form the new Benham Campus - Phase III of the science
park.
2003
Following the success of the first incubator, a second
building was planned and completed.
2002
A specially designed business incubator was built to house
new and fast growing companies.
1989 As a result of demand for more space,
Phase II (9 acres, 6 buildings, 86,000 ft2) was completed.
1988
A long ground lease was sold to a major satellite broadcaster, which has since erected 25,000 ft2 net buildings on site,
together with advanced satellite communications and control dishes.
1986
The first 8,000 ft2 building of Phase I was completed and
let to a single tenant
1984
Phase I of the science park (3 buildings, 41,000 ft2 net) was planned.
1983
The Science Park company was formed.
The Science Park is a major location for high-tech companies that seek a University of Southampton connection, and also
University of Southampton spin-outs and Industrial Advisory Units. There is also a strong emphasis on liaising with present tenant companies to provide the facilities that they need to continue expansion.
